The Appalachian Center for Resilience Research (ACRR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Sewanee, TN on the beautiful Cumberland Plateau of southern Appalachia.
The mission of the Appalachian Center for Resilience Research (ACRR) is to better understand and promote the ways in which people achieve resilience after experiencing violence and other adversities. ACRR is particularly interested in scientific approaches to understanding and facilitating resilience by rural, low SES populations in Appalachia and elsewhere. ACRR is guided by the belief that the resilience of rural, low SES individuals is under-recognized and under-appreciated.
We adopt a strengths-based, holistic approach to working with people who have experienced adversity and engage in science and training to encourage a more strengths-based approach by other researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the general public.
